Product description
Set of five hand forged chisels with Shirogami White Paper Steel blades laminated to soft steel jigane, set in Japanese red oak handles. The five sizes include a 9mm, 15mm, 24mm, 30mm and 36mm, all presented in a Paulownia box.
Most Japanese woodworking uses softwoods (mostly cedar and cypress) and these chisels are not intended for use with harder timber, especially knotted or burred wood.
Best usage
A very useful set for cabinet makers, home builders, and keen enthusiasts, these chisels are tailormade for detailed work. Use with a mallet for controlled, precise cuts, and avoid prying or twisting to prevent damage to the blade.
Wipe clean after each use, sharpen regularly, and store in a dry place to avoid rust. For added protection and longevity, apply a thin layer of Camellia Oil to the blades before storage.
