Niwaki Camo Split Front Apron: for accessories that are designed to get messy, Niwaki Camo is an excellent choice
Camo, but maybe not as you know it
Root out repetitive, banish the boring, give hum-drum the heave-ho and cross over into the parallel universe of Niwaki Camo. You might not be well-camouflaged in the traditional sense, but you’ll blend in just fine in our world.
Developed by Niwaki founder Jake Hobson in collaboration with Japanese illustrator Natsko Seki, Niwaki is launching a collection of workwear and accessories featuring a bespoke camouflage pattern. Inspired by the shapes and textures of Japanese gardens, this collaboration reflects years of creative experimentation and includes essential Niwaki gear, including the Mini Kantan Bag, Daikon Tote, Kneeler, Split Front Apron, Canvas Holster, Pouch, Arm Covers, and Bucket Hat.
Jake & Natsko
When Jake first discovered Natsko’s work, he was struck by her skill at evoking natural landscapes, in particular the delicate, layered foliage of his beloved Cryptomeria japonica. Close observation of nature combined with mastery of colour and pattern are filtered through a uniquely Japanese approach to stylisation – even abstraction – to create illustrations that are rich with detail and interest.
After five years of working together on catalogues and seasonal imagery, Jake and Natsko developed the concept of Niwaki Camo: an idiosyncratic twist on classic military patterns. Balancing the textural details of pine needles with the bold shapes of cloud-pruned trees, the unique design transforms Niwaki’s functional 16 oz canvas into wearable landscapes that immerse the wearer in Niwaki’s world. Taking centre stage is the Happi - a modern take on the traditional Japanese work jacket - covered in sweeping Niwaki camouflage.
