Niwaki Workshops: Bonsai Formation and Care with James Wong

Niwaki is pleased to host Create Academy’s first in-person workshop featuring names from their enviable roster of gardening talent.

Join acclaimed ethnobotanist and garden designer James Wong for an introductory masterclass to the world of bonsai.

In this 1.5hr workshop, James will talk through the background of this ancient art while showing you how to form and care for these beautiful plants in a hands-on session.

Using your own starter tree (a Zanthoxylum piperitum or Japanese Pepper – supplied and yours to keep) you will be shown step-by-step how to repot, prune and wire your own miniature Bonsai tree using Niwaki’s specialist tools.

James will also be pleased to answer any houseplant queries, and those wishing to continue their learning journey will receive a discount to James’ online Create Academy course – ‘An Indoor Gardening Masterclass’ –which, amongst other things, includes explanations of how to use bonsai as part of an effective kokedama display.

All tools will be provided by Niwaki for this workshop and light refreshments are included.
