Product description
Taira san forges these okubo style scissors in his tiny forge in Sanjo the way he always has, hand laminating Aogami #2 Blue Paper Steel blades to the softer jigane handles. We spec’d them with broader handles than normal, and they have fast become Jake’s go-to scissors for general garden use.
Best usage
Use with your index finger outside the handle for best control.
More about Taira
Taira san in his workshop in Sanjo. He’s been working here for 54 years, since he was 14, and has only recently taken on an apprentice, Junya Akiyama, who moved to Sanjo from near Tokyo for the experience. Taira san is one of the few scissor makers remaining who still hand-laminates his steel, working cross legged on the floor of his tiny forge.
