Product description
A specialist bonsai tool designed for splitting branches and trunks on small to medium-sized trees, allowing you to shape sections that would otherwise be too rigid to bend. Handmade in Japan by skilled craftsmen, its exceptional sharpness and quality ensure the precision and control needed for delicate work.
Best usage
This is not a cutting tool and should never be used to sever a branch or trunk. Instead, use it for controlled weakening – making partial splits to soften the tree’s internal structure, thus allowing it to bend more easily.
- Select the area you want to work on and carefully position the splitters.
- Squeeze slowly, stopping before the blades meet, to ensure you don’t cut through the branch or trunk.
- Work slowly, making small, spaced splits along the wood, supporting the branch to prevent accidental tearing.
- Wrap bonsai wire around the branch or trunk, and bend gently to achieve the desired shape.
- Apply cut paste to the splits if needed to support healing.
