Knife maintenance and sharpening skills

More Information

Knife Sharpening and Maintenance with James Ross-Harris from Blenheim Forge

Your knife is only as good as your sharpening skills. This two hour course is a step-by-step masterclass from one of the founders of Blenheim Forge knife makers.

Expect consideration of the different types of Japanese whetstones, the importance of a leather strop and, of course, a detailed overview of sharpening techniques to effect a razor sharp edge for any knife.

Participants are welcome to bring a couple of favourite knives with them, or else a practice knife will be supplied on the day. This course is perfect for someone who is keen to learn how to sharpen and maintain knives at home, but no experience is necessary.

More about Blenheim Forge

Originating and based in Peckham, South London, Blenheim Forge is the steel workshop of bladesmiths Jon Warshawsky, James Ross-Harris and Richard Warner, makers of hand-forged quality kitchen knives. The Blenheim Forge bladesmiths have spent many years fine-tuning their hand-forging process in order to create knives of the highest character and performance that are loved by world-class chefs and cooking enthusiasts alike. Whilst heavily inspired by Japanese knife making traditions, current advances in metallurgy and production also inform their designs, processes and materials.
