Product description
For those days when ones Nata Hatchet is too clumsy and ones Sickle too flimsy - where else to turn but the Billhook Sickle? Perfect for tough brambles, light brashing and other woodsy jobs. 6" forged steel blade with white oak handle.
Unlike a regular sickle (typically used for harvesting grasses and grains), the billhook sickle is designed to handle tougher vegetation. Its curved blade and hooked tip are especially good for gripping and cutting woody stems and branches, making it a favourite for heavy-duty clearing work.
Best usage
Using it safely:
Hold the billhook sickle with a firm, comfortable grip, keeping your wrist aligned with the handle to maintain control. Work with smooth, pulling cuts – letting the curve of the blade do the work. Always cut away from your body and ensure your other hand (and feet) are well clear of the cutting path. For stubborn branches, use short, deliberate strokes rather than unnecessary hacking.
As with all our tools, keeping the blade clean and sharp is key for performance and safety. Use the Niwaki #1000 for the best finish. Always ensure you’re working in a clear safety zone – at least two tool lengths from other people. Carry the tool at your side, (no swinging) and keep the blade pointed down with the hook forward. Store it in its sheath, laid flat in a dry container or toolbox.
