Product description

Shimenawa decoration /Shimekazari is a traditional Japanese New Year’s decoration made of rope, often made from rice straw, and is hung on the doors of homes and establishments. It serves to ward off evil spirits and invite good luck and prosperity. Shimekazari is a significant part of Japanese New Year customs, symbolizing the transition from the old year to the new one and the hope for a prosperous year ahead.

In this workshop, a Japanese floral artist, Miyuki, will teach you how to make Shimenawa rope using raffia and create a door wreath with festive materials
