A neat yellow toolbox for keeping your cleaning and sharpening kit together. Inside you’ll find a Mini Clean Mate, Camellia Oil, Oil Dispenser and Sharpening Stone, with plenty of room extras like spare bits of garden string. A useful gift for anyone who’s recently bought their first carbon steel tools and is keen to keep them in good condition.
Mini Clean Mate: a magic eraser for tackling rust, sap, grime and other unspeakables. Dip in water (and re-hydrate regularly) before tackling dirty blades with the same amount of pressure you’d apply to an unwanted spelling mistake.
Camellia Oil: the Japanese oil of choice for protecting carbon steel blades against rust. Odourless and non-toxic, it’s also suitable for kitchen knives and conditioning wooden handles.
Oil Dispenser: by far the simplest and tidiest way to use your Camellia Oil. Unscrew the bottle, fill it halfway, and use the top wadding to apply a thin coating to your freshly cleaned blades.
Sharpening Stone: the #1000 sharpening stone is our go-to choice for everyday sharpening, but if you want to add to you collection there’s also the coarser #220 (for damaged blades) and #3000 for an ultra-sharp finish.
Best usage
As long as you remember to put everything back in the box once you’re done, you should be fine. The front clasp will keep the contents securely contained if it needs to travel in a bag, but we wouldn’t recommend shaking it up and down to test.
Once opened, please be sure to keep and replace the rubber bung in the Camellia Oil. If removed and the bottle is laid on its side, it may leak.
