Product description

A little reminder of where the Friar Park x Niwaki collaboration took root, this Hori Hori Pro features a cloud-pruned tree etched into its beechwood handle, inspired by one carefully trained and maintained in the gardens at Friar Park. Alongside it, an equally hard-wearing burgundy Canvas Sheath for safe storage and easy access.

Handmade by third-generation craftsmen in Miki, Hyogo – one of the heartlands of horticultural blacksmithing in Japan – this SK-5 carbon steel blade has a knack of becoming everyone’s favourite garden tool.

Use it for digging, weeding, planting, cutting, snail flicking and just about any other garden job you set your mind to.

Best usage

Although considerably stronger than a regular trowel, the Hori Hori isn’t invincible and doesn’t appreciate being stuck into hard ground and yanked about. An in-slice-to-the-left-out action is much more appropriate.

Remove rust with Mini Clean Mate, sharpen with a #1000 Sharpening Stone and protect with a dash of Camellia Oil.

Please familiarise yourself with the Offensive Weapons Law before carrying this tool in public.

Under section 1 of the Prevention of Crime Act 1953, it is an offence to have a weapon in a public place unless you have lawful authority or a reasonable excuse. This might include carrying tools for work or transporting gardening equipment.

We strongly advise that you keep this tool concealed, sheathed, and out of sight in public spaces – preferably in a gardening bag or toolbox rather than on your belt.
