Product description

The crowning jewel of the Niwaki Camo collection, this traditional Japanese jacket features large swathes of our limited-edition Camo pattern, designed by Niwaki founder Jake Hobson and Japanese Illustrator Natsko Seki. Inspired by Japanese gardens, it balances the textural details of pine needles with the bold shapes of a cloud-pruned tree. Sure, you might not be well-camouflaged in the traditional sense, but you’ll blend in just fine in our world.

Happi are a central feature at Japanese cultural events, associated nowadays with festivals and celebrations. They date back to the Edo period (1603-1868) when they were worn by household workers, craftsmen, and even firefighters. Traditional happi often featured a large crest or ‘mon’ on the back to signify the wearer’s family or establishment. We haven’t gone quite that far, but if you want to show your allegiance, you’ll find a small Niwaki hanko on the back collar.

The loose fit makes this jacket one-size-fits-all, with three-quarter-length sleeves to keep your hands free and two front pockets for essentials. Wear it open, or secure it at the front with the red tie.

Every jacket is cut from a different section of camo canvas, so the way the pattern falls changes each time. Your jacket may not match the picture exactly – but it will certainly be unique.

Best usage

This product may transfer colour to other items, especially when moisture or friction are added to the mix. Please take extra care around white sofas, box-fresh trainers, pale leather bags, certain West Highland Terriers and so on.

Dry clean only and iron at a low temperature (110°C max) with a pressing cloth to keep it looking smart. Do not bleach or tumble dry.
