The very mild weather we've had recently has been perfect for rootballing - conifers and evergreens move better in the autumn when there's still a bit of warmth left in the soil for the roots to grow a bit before winter sets in.
This is Cryptomeria japonica, which I'm growing in sort of bastardised Kyoto daisugi style.
Up above us, a pilot was so excited by my rootballing activities, they had to go home and tell everyone...
