Sasuke Garden Scissors
Uekibasami
Avert your eyes from the price tag for a second, and understand this: Yasuhiro Hirakawa (5th generation Sasuke) is unique. He (claims to be) the only blacksmith in Japan making garden scissors entirely by hand, and entirely by himself using traditional forging methods. He is based in Sakai, renowned centre of all things sharp and shiny, and produces some of the most remarkable, beautiful - and expensive - tools imaginable.
These traditional uekibasami garden scissors are like nothing we've seen before: solid, surprisingly heavy, but beautifully balanced. The blades cross at the tips, allowing for a full cut and a life time of sharpening. Like all uekibasami the round handles make a satisfying metallic click sound as they meet - something the Japanese are particularly fond of.
In Japan these are used as general purpose garden scissors. They are not as strong as secateurs and shouldn't be used for heavy pruning, but if pines are your thing, these are for you.
They come with a heavy duty leather holster made exclusively for Sasuke.
